A SLICE of Life

This is my first attempt to write my personal review about a resto. I’m hoping I could give justice to the venue, and to the food, of course! 🙂

We were supposed to bring baby Mags to our school’s swimming pool last afternoon of Sunday, April 9, 2017 to have her first taste of swimming, complete with a salbabida and all, but alas! The pool closed exactly the time we got there. Unfortunately, there was no late afternoon swimming yet; the pool will have its 4:00-6:00 opening hours after Holy Week.

Instead, we went directly to the next part of our itinerary that afternoon – snacktime at UP Town Center. There were still a lot of restos and foodies to choose from, but for today, we decided to try out Slice.

Slice is located at the newest portion of UP Town Center in Katipunan Ave. We only found out about it while looking for Uniqlo. It serves your usual comfort food – pasta, burgers, sandwiches, cakes, amongst others.

One would find the interior as giving a home-y ambience, with its two very nice lounge chairs right by the window. Even our little one seems to be enjoying it! There is also this very nice wall filled up with lots and lots of framed pictures and posters. Too bad I wasn’t able to take a photo of it as there were others dining in that area.

Slice also serves rice meals, but since it was still late afternoon when we arrived, we ordered their pasta and sandwiches. Also, for dessert, instead of their mouth-watering cakes, we tried their Fruity Yogurt Granola.

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich (soft marinated beef strips topped with caramelized onions and a slice of cheese, in sweet potato buns dressed with cream cheese, served with side salad), Php 350

Bangus-Tuyo Pasta (My favorite among our orders!  Lemon cream pasta garnished with broccoli at the sides, with salty tuyo and bangus flakes), Php 440
Barbecue Chicken Sandwich (barbecue chicken strips topped with caramelized onions, mayonnaise sandwiched with lettuce in whole wheat bread), Php 350
Fruity Yogurt Granola (seasonal fruits with yogurt and topped with granola), Php 150

There were several items in their menu which actually caught our attention, but having these made us already full! Here’s their menu, and our little family enjoying our time at Slice:

Overall, Slice is one commendable place to try out in UP Town Center. What I like about it is its home-y atmosphere, wide variety of food items to choose from, and of course, their cakes (which I still need to try out next time!). On the other hand, the only downside we found out was that most of their items were a bit pricey. We could actually enumerate other restos serving almost the same dish at the same quality but at half the price. But then again, the taste compensates for it. Would I recommend it? Definitely!
